Homecoming is just three weeks away: October 6-12! The theme for the student competition will be "A Novel Homecoming!" The Rebel Homecoming Committee is looking for departments to loan us golf carts that student organizations can use to decorate and participate in the Homecoming Parade.
We need the golf carts on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. We will return carts by the morning of Oct. 9. UNLV Pro Staff will be responsible for all keys and security of carts. All drivers of the carts will be cart trained and all parade participants will sign waivers and understanding of rules.
Carts will be decorated by the student organization teams. Teams will be supervised and directed to only use blue tape, zip ties or string to attach items to the cart. No glue, paint or glitter will be used. The teams are responsible for cleaning up carts and returning them to their original condition at the end of the parade or they will be charged and disqualified from the Homecoming competition.
Note: Departments are also encouraged to participate in the parade on either a golf cart or as a walking entry (can also use a wagon if you are walking). Please sign up using this link if you are interested in being a part of the parade. But if you have more than one golf cart or are willing to let us use your cart for a team, we would be very appreciative!
The parade itself will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. during the Rebel Homecoming Festival (happening from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. on the Academic Mall) directly following a drone show (pet friendly). All of the campus is invited to participate and/or attend the parade and festival. More details on the event will be shared soon but please mark your calendars for this extra special free event that is open to everyone!
If you are able to loan us a golf cart, please let me know via email by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3. Our first preference is four seater carts, but please let me know what kind of cart(s) you have available regardless of seats.
