Final Call for Volunteers: The "Enhanced" Study - Adult Nutrition Cooking Education for Diabetes Prevention in Clark County

Classes start next week! Join our research study at the Department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences and the UNLV Nutrition Center. The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of a nutrition education intervention using the Cooking Matters for Adults Curriculum (SNAP-Ed). The study compares this standard curriculum to an enhanced version incorporating specific information related to type 2 diabetes. We are recruiting adults (18+) who have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes or are at a risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Participants who qualify will be asked to attend 6 weekly nutrition education and hands-on cooking classes at the UNLV Nutrition Center in addition to 2 health screening visits at the Bigelow Health Sciences (BHS) building. This will be the final cohort we are recruiting for this study.

Potential benefits for volunteers:

• Receive information about your cardio metabolic health

• Gain insights into your physical activity

• Free produce bags to take home weekly

•Up to  $100 compensation for your time upon completion of the study

Learn more about the qualifications for participation and the benefits of involvement on our poster.
