Deadline Approaching: Join an AI Learning Community

The Teaching & Learning Commons has an exciting opportunity for academic faculty and instructors this spring semester! From now until Sunday, Oct. 19, enrollment is open for Auburn University’s online course Teaching with AI  and UNLV’s 10 AI Learning Communities — each with its own theme — to help you connect, learn, and collaborate on innovative AI-driven practices. Both opportunities combined are designed to support your professional development and foster a community of practice in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI in higher education. 

Auburn “Teaching with AI” Course: Enhance your teaching strategies and explore new ways to engage students with AI tools.

  • Module 1: What Do I Need to Know About AI?
  • Module 2: What Do I Need to Rethink in Terms of the Exams, Papers, or Projects I Assign?
  • Module 3: How are Students Using AI Tools and How Can I Partner With My Students?
  • Module 4: What are the Ethical Considerations of AI in Our Higher Ed Context and Beyond?
  • Module 5: How Do I (Re)Design Courses in the Wake of the AI Disruption?

UNLV AI Learning Communities: Choose from 10 themed groups that will meet two times this semester and three times next semester. You can join any group that interests you. For more information about each learning community, please email tl.commons@unlv.edu.

  • Neon Mixmasters: Utilizing Generative AI Practices in Course Design and Assessment to Enhance Learning (Jaime Carbajal, School of Integrated Health Sciences)

  • Goodbye Busywork: AI Agents on the Job (Amy Stone, School of Medicine)
  • Text-as-Data: How, Not What You Think! (Jarod Giger, College of Urban Affairs)
