On Sept.1, UNLV began proactively replacing approximately 3,600 Cisco IP phones across campus.
Cisco will discontinue support for video camera phones (models 8845 & 8865) on July 27, 2027. After this date, Cisco will no longer fix security flaws or software bugs for these models, leaving them vulnerable to security threats. To help prevent security breaches and potential disruptions, UNLV is replacing eligible phones with the newest model.
- Cost: This project is centrally funded. Departments will not be charged for replacement phones.
- Eligibility: To qualify for a replacement, phones must be connected to a campus network and have active phone service.
No action is required at this time unless you are contacted by Telecommunications. Telecommunications will contact building liaisons and building occupants to communicate replacement timelines.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to maintain reliable and secure phone service across campus.
