International Women's Day, observed annually on March 8, celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year's theme, “Give to Gain,” emphasizes the importance of supporting gender equality through generous giving. Significant barriers to gender equality persist, yet with dedicated resources and support, positive progress can be made. We can all give our support to gain advancement for women and girls. As individuals, giving support means calling out stereotypes, challenging discrimination, questioning bias, celebrating women's success, and more.
At work, at home, and in the community, there are many ways to give support for the IWD 2026 Give to Gain campaign Here a few tips (not all are listed.)
- Give respect: Practice active listening when a woman or girl shares an opinion or experience. Don’t interrupt or dismiss her perspective.
- Give opportunities: Encourage diversity in hiring and promote equitable training and advancement opportunities.
- Give safety: Report harassment and support survivors of gender-based violence.
