After 20 years of service to UNLV, Elora Merry Paik is retiring, and Financial Services invites you to join us for a goodbye get-together on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Campus Services Building, Room 249.
Since 2017, Elora has served as principal systems analyst in Financial Services, becoming a familiar face behind Workday finance process updates, dozens of shared custom reports, and security expertise. As an NSHE configuration partner, she has brought a big-picture perspective to the way data connects across functional areas. If there was a systems puzzle to solve, Elora was often the person who could see how all the pieces fit together.
Her UNLV story began long before that. From 2006 to 2017, Elora was the university’s inaugural Human Resources Systems Manager. She established the process for timely delivery of the annual National Center for Education Statistics’ IPEDS Human Resources survey, authored UNLV’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Plan for ten years, and brought expertise in human capital management, reporting, and security to the university’s Workday implementation.
Elora’s contributions extend beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. Through her service to the Faculty Senate, including most recently a finance subcommittee, she helped shape policies for delivering workforce data to campus users. She also enthusiastically volunteered to staff AskMe booths, where welcoming students reminded her of what makes UNLV so special.
A first-generation Rebel, Elora earned a bachelor’s degree in management information systems in 1990 from UNLV and a master of business administration from another institution in 1997. Before business school, she began her Rebel journey as a vocal performance major, and while her career took her in a different direction, music has always remained close to her heart. Elora often shared her love of song in campus hallways and on sidewalks, bringing a little extra joy to an ordinary day.
Elora has promised one final song at her farewell gathering! We hope you'll join us to celebrate her remarkable UNLV journey, share a few memories, and perhaps sing along.
Please RSVP with a quick note to Elora, so that we can add you to an invitation and get an accurate count.
