Board of Regents Election Candidates Town Hall at 6 p.m. Today

An opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to raise questions with BOR candidates running for election to the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents. Hear directly from candidates about issues affecting higher education in Nevada, as well as their vision for BOR governance, collaboration, and leadership.

This event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the Holbert H. Hendrix Education Auditorium (HEA) on the UNLV campus.

This Town Hall event is hosted by the Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA), UNLV's graduate student government.

GPSA has prepared questions addressing:

  • UNLV Tuition and Fee Increases
  • Campus Security and Safety
  • Board Dynamics and Collaboration
  • Student Worker Rights
  • The IDEA Committee & Diversity
  • Support for Nontraditional and International Students
  • Nevada's K-12 to NSHE Pipeline

Additional questions will be asked by audience members during the second half of the event. Questions will be screened by the event team to ensure they are appropriate for the forum and relevant to the role of Regent.

The ground rules for the event include:

  • Each candidate will be given two minutes to provide opening remarks.

  • Responses to questions will be limited to one minute.

  • If a candidate's name is invoked by another candidate, the candidate will have a 30-second rebuttal period.
