Join us on Sept. 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for the virtual workshop: Institutional and Classroom Contexts: Using Data & Tools to Identify Equity Gaps. The workshop introduces participants to ways they can leverage a range of tools and data to better serve UNLV students.  Guest Facilitator, Elana Paladino, Ph.D., associate professor-in-residence, College of Sciences.  

This is the third workshop in the Teaching & Learning Commons (TLC), Asset-Based Teaching: Leveraging UNLV Students’ Strengths series.  The series explores this pedagogical approach that recognizes learners’ cultural knowledge, lived experiences, and community strengths as powerful resources for learning. The asset-based framework challenges deficit-based narratives and emphasizes that fostering inclusion and connection in the classroom enhances, rather than diminishes, academic rigor. Adapted from an NSF-funded professional development program created by UNLV faculty for use across Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI's) facilitated by UNLV faculty and the Teaching and Learning Commons. Faculty completing four sessions earn the Asset-Based Teaching digital badge.
