Apply for Special Collections & Archives Faculty Retreat

Are you planning a course for spring 2026 where students might benefit from discovering UNLV Libraries Special Collections & Archives?

Students who explore the collections preserved by UNLV Libraries Special Collections and Archives find a window into understanding the history and continuing importance of the Las Vegas Valley, gaming and gambling, and the cultures and communities of the region.

The Libraries would like to support faculty who engage students with these unique cultural and historical records. We're recruiting a cohort of eight faculty to spend two days together planning individual assignments for any course they are scheduled to teach in spring 2026.

The retreat will provide time and space to work independently selecting material for students and to receive feedback from colleagues on an assignment you design using primary source materials from Special Collections & Archives. Participants will receive a $500 stipend and will be invited to share insights about how the assignment worked at the end of the semester.

Apply to participate in the faculty retreat in UNLV University Libraries' Special Collections & Archives to be held on Jan. 14 and 15, 2026, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
