Back-to-school season kicked off with an opening ceremony for the Marlow Early Childhood Education Campus on Wednesday at UNLV. The Marlow campus is an expansion of the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center and the UNLV/CSUN Preschool. The new campus will serve up to 80 additional preschool students and include space for early childhood and special education research.

It took eight toddlers to hold the line. Standing between UNLV Interim Dean Chris Heavey and Joseph Morgan, interim dean of the College of Education, on Wednesday afternoon the children clutched a chain of colorful paper rings stretched across the entrance of the brand new Marlow Early Childhood Education Campus — until Morgan tore it in half, opening a new home for the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center and the UNLV/CSUN Preschool.

It’s a project that adds space for 80 more little Rebels this fall and increases the campus’ total capacity from nearly 200 to more than 300 children, from 6-week-old infants to 5-year-old preschoolers.

The Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center on the UNLV campus is expanding. They're expected to be completed in the summer with a potential opening in the fall. More children also means more staff, giving more UNLV students an opportunity to work in a field they may want to pursue.
