The UNLV football program received a significant financial boost this week with a $1 million donation from the UNLV Rebel Football Foundation to enhance nutritional support for student-athletes, the university announced this morning.

Part of the deal of building Allegiant Stadium and securing public funding for a portion of its cost was to provide a new home for UNLV football, as the Rebels looked to move on from the aging Sam Boyd Stadium. With little success on the field historically for the Rebels, having a new NFL-level stadium to go along with the on-campus Fertitta Football Center training facility, the university hoped the program’s status in college football could improve along with the new facilities. It took a few seasons, but UNLV began to see the program shift dramatically, leading to historic seasons in 2023 and 2024.

In the high-stakes world of college athletics, victories on the field often overshadow those in the classroom. But at UNLV, a quiet revolution is taking place that deserves applause from every corner of the valley. In the spring 2025 semester, UNLV’s athletic department posted a record-breaking 3.36 cumulative GPA, its highest ever. It marks the 16th consecutive semester that UNLV’s student-athletes have achieved a department-wide GPA of 3.0 or higher.

UNLV student-athletes tallied a record 16th consecutive semester with a 3.0 grade point average or higher, the Athletics Department announced Thursday. The department achieved a record 3.36 cumulative GPA following the Spring 2025 semester, along with a 3.34 semester GPA, which marks its second-highest ever.

One of the big topics of conversations across all UNLV Rebels sports this year from all the teams head coaches has been giving back and building community. Although still considered a club team, the 2025 ACHA National Champion UNLV Skatin' hockey team is no exception.

The UNLV Hockey team is helping local youth learn the game of hockey this summer. Now through the end of July, kids of all ages can register for “Battle Camp”, where they can hit the ice with Skatin’ Rebels players and coaches.
