The event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to the first 150 attendees.
A devastating 9.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami last Friday off the coast of Japan resulted in what has become an escalating emergency at the nation's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. A team of UNLV experts will explain how nuclear power plants operate, what went wrong in Japan, compare Japanese and U.S. reactor design and regulations, and discuss implications for the global nuclear industry and U.S. policy. Panelists will also take questions from the audience. Event participants include:
