The UNLV Performing Arts Center is pleased to welcome Cirque Mechanics in its new show that celebrates the 250th anniversary of the circus — '42FT - A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels' — at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The Omaha World-Herald calls Cirque Mechanics "unforgettably wonderful."
At the center of every circus we find a 4-foot ring full of thrills, laughs, and excitement. In '42ft – A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels,' the company dares us to leap into the circus ring to experience the endurance of this evolving art form.
The show's unique mechanical interpretation of the traditional and its story full of the reality and lore of the historic one-ring circus, create a welcoming place, much like a big top, where we can be amazed. The action in 42ft is displayed with theatricality and a modern sensibility, showcasing a galloping mechanical metal horse and a rotating tent frame for strongmen, acrobats, and aerialists.
Tickets to '42FT - A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels' are $50, $40, $30, $20, and can be purchased through the Performing Arts Center box office or by calling 702-895-ARTS (2787). Student rush tickets are $10 each (not inclusive of the facilities fee) and available one hour prior to each event, based on availability and with valid student ID. UNLV faculty and staff discounts also are available.
A $1.50 facilities fee, in addition to the ticket price, is charged on all Performing Arts Center tickets. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
