UNLV invites the community to make an impact and support a developing campus tradition March 2-3 by taking part in Rebels Give – a 1,957-minute fundraising drive in honor of the university’s founding in 1957.
Celebrating its third year in 2021, Rebels Give encourages UNLV’s large community of supporters to celebrate their connections to the university by giving to any area of interest on campus. The university raised more than $930,000 during the first Rebels Give in 2018, and more than $1 million in 2019. The event was paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We understand that the last year has presented unique challenges for everyone and we truly appreciate your support,” said Rickey N. McCurry, UNLV vice president of philanthropy and alumni engagement, and president of the UNLV Foundation. “Our students have adapted to virtual learning, restricted social activities, and weathered countless other challenges. Your support is vital to helping our students achieve continued success and we encourage you to give to the program, student organization, or scholarship that means the most to you."
#RebelsGive will kick off at 9:30 a.m. March 2 with a virtual spirit rally streaming live on YouTube.
The university – and each of its colleges and divisions – will encourage support over the course of 1,957 minutes (around 32 hours) on the Rebels Give website and through social media challenges, donor match opportunities, and more. Individuals are also encouraged to tag #RebelsGive on social media March 2 and 3 and share why they’re ambassadors for UNLV.
“Every gift, no matter the size, will make a lasting impact and will directly help Rebels create, inspire, learn, and succeed for years to come,” said UNLV President Keith E. Whitfield. “Whether it’s a small one-time contribution or a major gift, private support sustains critical programs and launches new ones. It gives students the help they need to achieve their goals, and it ensures a bright future for UNLV.”
