Late on Monday in Des Moines, the Iowa House of Representatives voted 67-31 to pass a sports betting and fantasy sports bill, the week after the Senate approved its companion measure.

Pida Plaza, dotted with tall palm trees rustling in the desert heat, usually serves as an outdoor gathering area for the students of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. But on Monday, it served as a chapel for the betrothed ecosexuals who decided to marry the planet to celebrate Earth Day. In a “Marriage to the Earth” ceremony, roughly 25 people solemnly declared their vows to the Earth before a raised stage as cleansing herbs burned and drums thumped rhythmically.

April 22 is Earth Day. The first ever Earth day came about in 1970 after several environmental hazards brought about a call for change.

When Americans celebrated the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970, the planet's atmosphere was markedly different than it is today. Nearly 50 years ago, scientists measured Earth's levels of carbon dioxide — the planet's most important greenhouse gas — at around 325 parts per million, or ppm.

The UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law is ranked 58th out of 192 accredited law schools in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of best graduate and professional schools. This marks the third year in a row UNLV Law has moved up on the list of the nation’s top law schools. For a second year, UNLV’s Lawyering Process Program was ranked first in the nation among legal writing programs. The Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution jumped five spots and is ranked fifth nationally in Dispute Resolution. UNLV Law’s part-time J.D. (juris doctorate) program maintains its position as one of the top programs, securing a spot at 18 in this year’s report.

Relationship conflict, as with most things, is best in moderation.
