Kathryn Houk (Libraries) has been elected vice president/chair elect for the Northern California and Nevada Medical Libraries Group, the regional chapter of the Medical Library Association. Houk is the undergraduate medical education librarian at the School of Medicine Library serving the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.

Heather Frigiola (Anthropology), a doctoral student who studies with professor Ivan Sandoval-Cervantes, has published a paper, "Canine Ministries: Co-Instrumentality of Human and Dog in a Christian Ontology," in the AAA journal Anthropology and Humanism. She is a Ph.D. student.
Jacob White (Anthropology PhD candidate) was awarded the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees Fellowship. This fellowship is given for two years and includes stipends and benefits totaling $30,000 per year.  It is among the most prestigious offered by the UNLV. White's faculty advisor is professor Daniel Benyshek.
Michael Green (History) received the Superior Achievement Award from the Illinois State Historical Society for his book, Lincoln and Native Americans, published by Southern Illinois University Press.
