Yvonne Houy (Fine Arts) presented “Artist-Researchers Shaping AI Futures: Artistic Research, Epistemic Diversity, and Responsible AI Governance” at AI Hype, Hope, Humanity, a conference focused on the ethical, legal, and societal aspects of AI (ELSA), in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The presentation examined how artistic research is advancing ELSA insights by exposing computational assumptions, investigating cultural consequences, engaging diverse publics, and making alternative technological futures available for critical public consideration.
Houy argued that because artistic research contributions expose hidden computational infrastructures and expand public understanding of complex AI technologies, artistic researchers focused on AI can, and should, help shape responsible AI governance.
