Vidhani S. Goel (Public Health) was awarded the Best Poster Presentation in Health & Natural Sciences & Engineering at the Office of Undergraduate Research Spring 2026 Symposium.
An undergraduate researcher with an extensive scholarly record, she has authored nearly 15 publications and delivered close to 50 research presentations, and previously received an Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher award for her academic contributions.
The award-winning poster presentation, “When the Beat Drops, Do Patients Rise? Critical Care Utilization at Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas,” prepared under the mentorship of Mutsumi Kioka and Kavita Batra, was based on the study “Critical Care Utilization Associated with an Electronic Dance Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada: A Retrospective Cohort Study of the Electric Daisy Carnival,” co-authored by Jie Ren, Kavita Batra, Vidhani Goel, Taya Jensen, San Tran, and Mutsumi Kioka. The study examined patterns of critical care utilization at a large-scale music festival, with implications for emergency preparedness and public health response.
