On Dec. 28, 2024, the UNLV Ice Hockey team made history beating the NCAA Division I Denver Pioneers. With the game tied and a scoreless overtime, the game advanced to a shootout. Mattias Dal Monte scored the winning goal to secure the win. The Pioneers have the most NCAA National Hockey Championships with recent titles in 2017, 2022, and 2024 and are currently ranked No. 5 in the country.
The UNLV Skatin' Rebels are part of the ACHA conference with hopes to become a Division-I hockey team. With this win, UNLV proved they can skate with the best.
Their next game is January 31, 2025, against the University of Utah at the SLC Sports Complex.
