Steven T. Bickmore (Teaching & Learning) and co-editor Michelle M. Falter published When Loss Gets Personal: Discussing Death through Literature in the Secondary ELA Classroom and Moving Beyond Personal Loss to Societal Grieving: Discussing Death's Social Impact through Literature in the Secondary ELA Classroom. The texts consider how secondary language arts educators can thoughtfully teach literature in which topics like personal deaths, suicide, cancer, accidents, and large-scale deaths are a significant aspect of the texts. Each chapter focuses on texts and provides activities that ask students to engage through writing, activities, and prompts.
