Andy Kirk (Reid Public History Institute) recently presented at the Western History Association Annual Meeting in Portland, Oregon. There, a group of distinguished historians of the west gathered for the third meeting to finalize planning for, The Material World of the Modern American West, an innovative book project sponsored by the institute. Bringing together leading experts in public history, western history, and material culture, the year-long collaboration spanned the 2025 WHA conference, a two-day symposium at UNLV in May 2026, and a final gathering in Portland bringing national attention to the Reid Public History Institute's research leadership in western public history.
