Grants and Research Director Noehealani Antolin (Medicine) served as an invited panelist at the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) Annual Conference, held August 29–September 2, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Antolin was one of five panelists in the session "Riding Safe: Electric Bikes, Scooters and the Road Ahead," which examined how the rapid growth of electric bikes and scooters is reshaping transportation while raising new questions about safety, enforcement, and accountability. The discussion addressed emerging injury trends, rider behavior, and the policy debates shaping the future of micromobility, including clear regulations, data challenges, education efforts, and safer conditions for all road users.
Antolin presented research on e-micromobility injuries drawn from the Nevada Statewide Trauma Registry, conducted through the Traffic Safety Research Group under Principal Investigator Dr. Deborah Kuhls (Medicine).
