UNLV School of Medicine student contributed to the adoption of national policy at the 2025 American Medical Association (AMA) Annual House of Delegates with the adoption of policy H-60.893, Strengthening Child Labor Protections for Working Minors. Nicholas Kolch (Medicine) served as a coauthor on the resolution. The policy states that the AMA supports federal and state efforts to strengthen child labor protections through effective enforcement mechanisms, including increased employer penalties, maintenance of a minimum age of employment, enforcement of work hour restrictions, and extension of workplace health and safety standards—such as protections against hazardous substances and unsafe equipment—to all working minors, including those employed in agriculture.
