Honors: Mohamed Moneeb Azab and Mahendran Jayaraj

Mohamed Moneeb Azab (Medicine) under the mentorship of Mahendran Jayaraj (Medicine) had his abstract accepted for presentation at Digestive Disease Week, which is the world's largest gathering of physicians, researchers, and industry in the field of gastroenterology, hepatology, endoscopy, and gastrointestinal surgery. The two physicians co-authored the abstract "Safety of ERCP in Pregnancy: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis." The abstract looks into the safety of performing ERCP in pregnant patients. ERCP is a procedure that enables a physician to examine the pancreatic and bile ducts by inserting an endoscope through the mouth and into the stomach. The abstract is the recipient of the 2018 ASGE Diversity Award for Gender, which is given by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy to physicians who submit an outstanding abstract promoting gender health care research. The author will be recognized at the 2018 Crystal awards taking place during the Digestive Disease Week 2018. Dr. Azab, a resident physician, specializes in internal medicine, while Dr. Jayaraj is a gastroenterologist.
