Grant: Mingon Kang and Ji Yoo

Mingon Kang (Computer Science) and Ji Yoo (Medicine) were awarded a pilot grant, "Predicting an Inpatient’s Risk of Benzodiazepine and Opioid Overdose" from The Mountain West Clinical & Translational Research Infrastructure Network program (MW CTR-IN). The interdisciplinary team will develop a deep learning model to predict risk scores of benzodiazepine and opioid overdose using electronic health records.

In addition, Kang and Henry Sun (DRI) were awarded an infrastructure grant, "Pattern-recognition Algorithm for Monitoring Global Desert Change" from Nevada NASA. The team will develop a deep learning-based fairy circle detection model using satellite images.
