Manoj Sharma (Social and Behavioral Health; Internal Medicine) was a senior collaborator in the GBD 2023 Breast Cancer Collaborators in the publication of the article, “Global, regional, and national burden of breast cancer among females, 1990–2023, with forecasts to 2050: A systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2023” in the journal, The Lancet Oncology (Impact factor 35.9). The article highlights that while the breast cancer incidence has decreased in high-income nations due to better screening, diagnosis, and treatment, there are still many nations failing to reach the WHO target of an annual reduction of 2·5% in age-standardized mortality rates by 2040. There is an ardent need for increasing funding, educational, and policy interventions targeting low- and middle-income nations.
