Lauren Gatto (Student Success) and Kenneth Young (Tarleton State University) presented a conference session titled "Perceived Training Needs and Expectations for Department Chairs in Higher Education" at the International Council of Professors of Educational Leadership (ICPEL) Annual Conference, held in Las Vegas. The presentation examined the training needs and role expectations of department chairs in higher education, drawing on survey data from faculty members, department chairs, and academic deans. The session highlighted how differing stakeholder perspectives can inform leadership development initiatives and improve preparation for department chairs, emphasizing relational and developmental approaches to academic leadership.
