Kayla Tanaid (Student Diversity & Social Justice) has been awarded an Administrative Faculty Professional Development Grant by the office of faculty affairs. This competitive grant is given to administrative faculty to focus on professional development efforts as part of the Top Tier initiative. As UNLV's Native American program coordinator, Tanaid will utilize the funds to attend the Native American Student Advocacy Institute in Phoenix. The institute seeks to address educational challenges facing native students, and builds national networks to enhance the academic performance of American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students and to close the educational achievement gap.
