Dr. Kai-Yu Ho and Dr. Lisa Taylor (Physical Therapy), along with UNLVPT alumna Dr. Katherine Joines, published the article, “Physical Therapy Management for Delayed Diagnosis of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip: A Case Report," in Case Reports in Pediatrics.
The publication highlights the challenges of early detection of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) and the impact of delayed diagnosis, while emphasizing the essential role of physical therapy in recovery and long-term function. With targeted rehabilitation following surgical intervention, the child regained mobility, began walking independently by 19 months, and achieved near-normal hip development by age six.
