Jenna Serr, Vidhani Goel, Roberto Sagaribay, Kavita Batra, and Ami P. Shah (Medicine) recently published their study, “Pediatric Trauma Trends Before and After Recreational Cannabis Legalization in Nevada: A Retrospective Repeated Cross-Sectional Study,” in the journal Children. The study found that while the overall incidence of pediatric trauma remained relatively stable following recreational cannabis legalization in Nevada, important shifts were observed in injury mechanisms, healthcare utilization patterns, and socioeconomic disparities among affected patients. These findings underscore the importance of continued surveillance and the development of targeted, equity-focused injury prevention strategies to address evolving public health and pediatric safety concerns in the post-legalization era.
