Jay Shen, Pearl Kim (Health Care Administration), and Ji Yoo (Medicine), along with Sung-Youn Chun and Jinwook Hwang, former international visiting scholars at the School of Public Health, and others recently published an article, "U.S. Trends of Opioid-use Disorders and Assoicated Factors among Hospitalized Patients with Spinal Conditions and Treatment from 2005 to 2014," in Spine. The study obsered an increase in opioid-use disorders among hospitalized patients with spinal conditions and treatment, which is associated with sociodemographic factors such as age, race/ethnicity, health insurace status, income level; as well as cannabis-use disorders.
