Irma Corral and Jennifer Young (Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Office of Community Affairs) have received notification of funding from the Nevada Rural Health Transformation Workforce Recruitment and Rural Access Program (WRRAP). Their project, the Healthcare Exposure Rural Outreach (HERO) program, will serve as a workforce pipeline initiative for high-achieving rural Nevada high school students interested in healthcare careers. Participants will attend a day-long conference at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine and engage in a year of virtual mentoring. The program is designed to inspire students to pursue health professions training and ultimately practice in rural communities across Nevada.
