A collection of stories by Francis McCabe and Beth DeBouck (both Integrated Marketing & Branding), Afsha Bawany (Urban Affairs), and Natalie Bruzda (Engineering) won a Gold Award in News/Feature Writing in the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education's 2024 Circle of Excellence Competition. The collection related to coverage of the victims and survivor of the Dec. 6 campus shooting and the experience of the two University Police officers who brought an end to the violence that day. Judges said, "Together, these stories beautifully captured the enduring strength, compassion, and love these individuals have for UNLV, even in the face of such unimaginable loss."
