Pediatric resident Dr. Aasna Shah (Medicine) was awarded the American Academy of Pediatric's 2026-2027 Leonard P. Rome CATCH Visiting Professorship. The award was named after Dr. Rome, a pediatrician and advocate who dedicated his life to improving children's health. Shah has secured funds to host Dr. Lisa Horowitz, from Children's Hospital Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, at the UNLV Department of Pediatrics, and will present the topic of "Adolescent Suicide Screening Protocols in Pediatric Primary Care". Shah also serves as our Suicide Prevention Ambassador for the Nevada Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. UNLV was selected along with three other institutions: Children's National, UC Irvine, and University of Iowa.
