Charlotta Sanders (Mechanical Engineering) and Mark Callis Sanders are co-authors of a paper, “Two Roads in a Yellow Wood: Consent or Science Based Siting,” which has been accepted for publication and will be presented at the American Nuclear Society-sponsored International High-Level Radioactive Waste Management 2019 Conference, which will be held in Knoxville, Tennessee in April. Their paper considers the dynamics of consent-based and scientific-based siting approaches and their impact on initiating, building, financing, and operating a long-term, high-level nuclear waste management disposal facility.
