Camila Salgado (Political Science), a Hixson-Lied Scholar, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Spain for the 2025-2026 academic year. Sponsored by the U.S.-Spain Fulbright Commission and the Gobierno de Canarias, Salgado will live and work in the Canary Islands, assisting in English language classrooms and supporting cross-cultural learning initiatives. This opportunity builds on her 2024 summer internship with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in Washington, D.C., where she deepened her passion for public diplomacy and international exchange.
“Cami has distinguished herself as a leader among leaders, making a meaningful and lasting impact through her accomplishments as a UNLV Rebel,” explains her faculty mentor, Dan Gianoutsos (Academic Learning Services). “We are excited to see all she will continue to accomplish.” Graduating this May, Salgado looks forward to continuing her journey of cultural connection and educational engagement abroad.
