Axel Rivas (Medicine) published an article titled, "Unexpectedly Low Rate of Metastasis and Death Among Patients Treated for Uveal Melanoma with Brachytherapy, Vitrectomy, and Silicone Oil," in the special issue of Cancers, Advances in Treatment of Uveal Melanoma. The article focuses on patients with melanoma arising in the eye have a high risk of spreading to the liver and other organs. When this occurs, cancer-related death is frequent.
