Dr. Allison McNickle (Medicine) presented a poster entitled "Implementation of a Whole Blood Program at a Level 1 Trauma Center" at the 2025 Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Annual Conference in Chicago on behalf of co-authors Dr. Deborah Kuhls, Dr. Keith Berry, Lisa Rogge and Dr. Mark Dugan (all Medicine) describing the development of University Medical Center's whole blood program for trauma. The program, started in November 2023, provides low-titer O positive whole blood for the resuscitation of critically ill trauma patients. Since inception, the program has used over 1,500 units of whole blood with less than 5% waste of this critical resource.
