Dr. Allison McNickle (Surgery) was an invited panelist for the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma's Disaster Committee Grand Rounds. Her segment "Disaster Surgical Planning: An After Action Review of the 1 October Event" reviewed lessons learned and how trauma surgeons can be involved in disaster planning. The event highlighted the development of a Disaster Medicine fellowship as a combined effort of the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Emergency Medicine among others.
