Graduate History Programs
About Our Programs
We offer master of art (M.A.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees. Both programs train students for work and citizenship in the real world by sharpening their skills of problem solving, critical thinking, and clear communication. Our nationally and internationally recognized faculty work closely with graduate students to prepare them for fulfilling careers in a wide range of industries including education, law, business, historic preservation, and public relations.
M.A. in History
Our M.A. students can major in North American or world history. There is also an accelerated general history subplan for talented UNLV undergraduates eager to transfer directly into graduate study. Possible minors include our very popular public history program.
Ph.D. in History
Ph.D. students have three major subplan options (post-M.A. or post-B.A.): North American West, North American culture and society, or European culture and society. They can minor in public, world, North American, or European history.
