Consists of chairs of all Graduate College Committees, Graduate Council Chair, and the GPSA president. The Executive Committee advises the Graduate College dean and aids in strategic planning for the Graduate College.
Reviews and approves new graduate courses and course revisions.
Reviews and recommends approval of new graduate degree programs and changes to existing programs.
Develops guidelines for awarding graduate student funding for fellowships and scholarships, selects fellowship and scholarship recipients, and selects outstanding graduate faculty and outstanding thesis & dissertation award winners.
Works in conjunction with the Faculty Senate to review existing graduate programs.
Reviews and develops policies related to faculty and student welfare, and serves as reviewing and recommending body on select faculty and student academic appeals.
Plans and executes outstanding leadership, professional, and career development opportunities for graduate and professional students.
Ensures support for Postdocs and their graduate faculty mentors, and ensuring smooth and efficient operation of all aspects of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs in the Graduate College.
Grad College Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity, & Justice (DEIJ) Advisory Board
Explores and advises on how to eradicate systemic racism and promote anti-racist culture and structures that live up to, and define, tier one MSI graduate education. This group is composed of invited members and will also provide guidance on strategies to implement key elements in the GC strategic plan.
Grad Student Advisory Board
Advises the Graduate College leadership on ways to enhance the graduate experience, promote graduate student engagement, and create innovative programs, pathways, and infrastructure to support student success and promote tier one MSI graduate educational experiences. This Board will also provide guidance on strategies to implement key elements in the GC strategic plan.
International Grad Student Recruitment & Services (IGSRS) Advisory Board
Explores and advises on examining, promoting and advocating issues related to international students in a top-tier MSI graduate education. This Board will also provide guidance on strategies to implement key elements in the GC strategic plan.
Ad hoc Top Tier Working Groups
For the 2022-2023 academic year, four Ad hoc Top Tier Committees will support graduate initiatives. They are as follows:
- Research and Student Success, typically meets Mondays, 2-3 p.m.
- Interdisciplinary Programs, typically meet Thursdays, 1-2 p.m.
- Graduate Pivot Planning, Thursday, 2-3 p.m.
- Graduate Associate Deans Council, typically meets Wednesdays, 1-2 p.m
