Two UNLV School of Nursing faculty have been named 2026 Fellows of the Academy of Diversity Leaders in Nursing (ADLN), a national honor recognizing nurse leaders who have advanced justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in nursing education, research, practice, policy, and administration.

Dr. Hyunhwa “Henna” Lee, Associate Dean for Research, was selected as a Distinguished Fellow, a category that recognizes nurses who have created innovative JEDI initiatives that transformed their area of nursing. She has led several UNLV Nursing research initiatives, including work on behavioral health workforce development and increasing access to mental health care in Nevada’s rural communities.

Dr. Rhigel “Jay” Tan, Associate Professor-in-Residence, was selected as a Luminary Fellow, a category reserved for nurse leaders with at least 30 years in the profession whose JEDI contributions are widely recognized. Dr. Tan was the first Asian and first Filipino elected president of the Nevada State Board of Nursing, and his advocacy to reduce the stigma of mental illness contributed to the Philippines’ first national mental health law. He leads the School’s DNP program and PMHNP track for the MSN program.

Drs. Lee and Tan will be inducted on December 11, 2026, at the New York Academy of Medicine.

The ADLN was established by the National Black Nurses Association. Its mission is to advance justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in nursing, health, and healthcare with the ultimate goal of achieving health equity.
