UNLV’s Harrah College of Hospitality has once again been named the top U.S. program in hospitality and leisure management by the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025. The college has held this distinction since QS began ranking universities by subject in 2022. The global ranking system, evaluates institutions worldwide using key metrics such as academic reputation, research activity, faculty qualifications, and student experience. This year, the college is ranked number four in the world — one of only three U.S. universities to appear in the global top 20.

The Skatin' Rebels hold their championship trophy.

UNLV’s 2024–25 Skatin’ Rebels made history by capturing the university’s first-ever American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I National Championship — an achievement decades in the making. Since launching in 2005 and rising to the ACHA's top division in 2017, the program has continued to grow. This year, the players returned to the national title game for a rematch against defending champions Adrian College, who defeated UNLV in last year’s final. The Skatin’ Rebels clamed a 7–3 victory, securing the title as the top ACHA hockey program in the country.

The Student Union eateries.

Dining options at UNLV continue to grow with the recent openings of Shake Smart in the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, Panera Express in the former Sidewalk Café location, and Chicken Guy! and Yonutz in the Student Union. These additions offer a wider range of convenient, on-campus food choices for students, faculty, and staff. The expansion is part of broader efforts by UNLV Eats — recently ranked No. 1 in Nevada for Best College Food by Niche — to enhance the campus dining experience.

Children dig with shovels at the preschool expansion grand opening.

The UNLV/CSUN Preschool broke ground on the first and second phases of the new preschool expansion project, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor. Phase I expansion will add a new 6,900-square-foot building to the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center and make improvements to 20,000 square feet, including a new fenced playground, landscape areas, metal canopies, and fabric shade structures, as well as reconfiguration of the adjacent parking area. The expansion will ultimately double the preschool’s capacity to serve Southern Nevadans.

UNLV’s PGA Golf Management Program has partnered with Evenplay, a local AI technology company that developed a patented golf simulator designed to challenge players of all skill levels and enhance performance. Together, they aim to study how reward-based practice impacts skill development — and how effectively those improvements carry over to real-world play on the course.

Founded in 1974, the annual UNLVino has grown into Las Vegas’ premier wine, spirits and food event, and serves as the year’s largest scholarship fundraiser for the William F. Harrah College of Hospitality students. To enhance engagement, a dedicated UNLVino management class offers students hands-on experience in event planning and valuable networking opportunities within the community. Entering its 50th year, UNLVino has raised millions of dollars in scholarships and has become one of the city’s must-attend events of the year.
