According to 29 CFR 1910.67, OSHA requires that UNLV establish and maintain a program that provides for the proper inspection, maintenance and safe operation of aerial work platforms.

This is accomplished by adherence to OSHA Standards, ANSI Standards, and manufacturer's manuals which call for aerial work platform inspections prior to use, evaluation of job sites for safe conditions, and observance of all rules to prevent injuries and property damage.

Course instruction and individual certification are tools used to train and certify operator capability. Currently there is an initial certification requirement for all operators.
