The President's Public Purpose Grant Program is designed to support efforts of UNLV faculty, staff, and students who wish to establish and/or to enhance mutually beneficial and reciprocal partnerships that align with the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching’s definition of academic community engagement and the university’s Top Tier 2.0 Community Partnership objectives.
The Grant Program is a reflection of UNLV’s commitment to institutionalizing and sustaining academic community engagement and partnerships university-wide. The grant program offers 36 funding opportunities, across 10 grant categories, totaling $140,000 annually.
As part of the grant recipient selection process, we are creating three volunteer Recipient Selection Committees (RSC) composed of UNLV’s executive leadership, faculty, staff, students, and alumni, as well as members of the Southern Nevada community.
We would appreciate your service as a representative of one or more of these areas on one of this year’s committees.
To help you decide if this is a commitment you can make, please note the following requirements:
- Review electronic files containing an estimated 20 applications during the period of May 11th to May 25th.
- Enter your numeric ratings for each application you review onto an Excel rating sheet.
- Return your completed rating sheets to us no later than May 25th.
- Attend one meeting (approximately one-and-a-half hours) the week of June 1st. (A Doodle Poll will be sent to help us find the best time for all committee members.)
- Maintain confidentiality about the applicants, their applications, and the results of the review process.
If you are able to volunteer in this capacity, please reach out to Tamara Marino, in the Office of Government and Community Engagement, no later than Monday, May 4.
If you have general questions, please reach out to us via the GCE email.
Thank you for considering this opportunity and we look forward to your response.
