Have you seen this wild mustard popping up all over the valley lately? They are non-native nuisance weeds in our area. The rains and warmer-than-usual winter weather we've had seems to have encouraged them to invade everywhere, and the Center is not immune - we need major weeding time!
To accomplish this gargantuan task, we need as much help as we can get. Join us at the Center for Urban Water Conservation (4734 Horse Dr., North Las Vegas NV 89084) on Thursday, March 5 from 8 a.m. to noon for a "Weeding Pizza Party," where we will all get to work on this invasive species removal and enjoy pizza and refreshments afterwards.
We welcome you to bring water to drink and any equipment or supplies that would make the work easier (e.g., heavy duty gloves, knee pads, battery-powered weed trimmers) and, of course, hat, the required close-toed shoes and any clothing you don't mind getting dirty. We will have garden gloves and other weeding tools available for those who don't have their own.
Please RSVP by emailing CenterforUrbanWaterConservation@unlv.edu so we have enough food for everyone.
