The Jean Nidetch Care Center is hosting two training sessions this Domestic Violence Awareness Month to help bring prevention and awareness to our community.
- Supporting Victim-Survivors of Domestic Violence Training
- Oct. 7 | Beam Hall RM: 216 or Virtual (BOTH) | 1 PM- 2:30 PM
- This presentation helps Staff and Faculty identify the impact of trauma on students, define the components of trauma-informed care and healing-centered care, and practice how to respond if students were to disclose power-based violence.
- “Don’t Be a Chicken” Active Bystander Training
- Oct. 21 | SU Room 219 | 1PM - 2:30PM
- The Care Center presents a tailored presentation for men to talk about healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships, and how to be an active bystander if they see something. We welcome anyone who’d like to join this event! We will also learn more about Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and the Care Center's events this month. Cane’s Chicken will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis!
These trainings are free and open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater community.
