Socrates: Digital Humanities Project Launch April 29

History assistant professor-in-residence John Haberstroh and history/anthropology alum Jessica Ayala Venegas (’25) announce the launch of “Socrates,” a digital humanities project exploring the Classical Period of ancient Greek history (c. 500–323 BCE). The UNLV community is invited to attend the public launch Wednesday, April 29, at 1 p.m. in the Amargosa Room of Lied Library (LLB 1146).

Developed in partnership with the digital timeline platform ClioVis, the project is a digital chronology of the fifth century BCE. Students in Haberstroh’s HIST 456/656 course conducted primary source research throughout the spring 2026 semester to build an interactive timeline based on ancient Greek historical sources.
