Panel: Racial Equity & Social Justice Research in the Age of Retrenchment April 10

Please join the Racial Equity & Social Justice Interdisciplinary Research Development Area and the Black Graduate Student Association for an exciting panel of scholars who continue to conduct racial equity and social justice research in the face of uncertainty in federal and state funding paradigms. The event is Friday, April 10, 2026, in CHB A110, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is open to all members of the UNLV community, but the first 35 registrants will receive a light lunch/dinner. Please RSVP here.

This is a campus-wide event to highlight how racial equity and social justice research is still achievable through both external and foundation funding and other pathways. Additionally, this is a panel/seminar aimed at developing cross, multi, and transdisciplinary partnerships to pursue work that addresses issues of racial equity and social justice. The event will feature a panel of noted scholars from across the nation and across fields (both the physical/biological sciences and the social sciences) and opportunities to engage with other attendees to develop partnerships across disciplines. Everyone is welcome. Lunch/dinner is included.

If you’re interested in helping to organize the event or have any questions, please contact Steven L. Nelson (steven.nelson@unlv.edu). This is sponsored by the Racial Equity & Social Justice iRDA, the Black Graduate Student Association, and the Division of Research.
