UNLV School of Nursing's annual event, A Vital Affair, will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17 at the Strip View Pavilion at the Thomas and Mack Center. This year's evening honors the leaders and advocates advancing nursing and healthcare in Nevada, in support of our mission to advance the science of health and healthcare through our nurse leaders.
Guests will hear from special guest speaker Angie Scartezina, chief nursing officer for Intermountain Children's Health, and celebrate this year's award recipients:
- Outstanding Community Partner: Jeanine Young, CCSD Health Services
- Rising Star: Kalea Acevedo, Silver State Adolescent Treatment Center
- Clinical Excellence: Nicole Zimmer, UNLV School of Nursing
- Trailblazer: Justin LeMay, UMC and President of the School of Nursing Alumni Association
- Leadership Excellence: Debra Fox, UMC
- Nurse of the Year: Katherine Skeith, Sunrise Children’s Hospital
- Champions of Nursing: Jennifer Carmona, Silver State Pediatric Skilled Nursing Facility, and Diane Knapp, UMC
The evening also includes a silent auction, cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, and dinner. Tickets are available online.
